Google Rolls Out New Search Bar with Round Design, Small Logo and Sticky Header

Google has been testing for quite a few months a ‘new design’ for the interface of the ‘desktop’ search results. It began testing this innovative design from the month of August 2018. It is now about to roll out the new design to all its searchers. However, the ‘new design’ of the header is available for the ‘desktop’ search results. The mobile users cannot obtain any benefit from it yet.

Features of the New Header

•  The key difference of the ‘new header’ from the old one is that the new one would stick on the top of Search Result Page (SERP)’.

•  Unlike the old design, the new header design would be accessible to the users all the time as they scroll down the page for search results. This was not the case with the ‘old header’.

•  The design of the new search bar is round with a small logo and sticky header.

What is the Difference of the New Header from the Old One?

•  To access the ‘search bar’ the users had to scroll back right to the top of a page earlier. With the ‘new header’ design, it would be easier for the user to access the search bar.  The new header would stick on the top of ‘search results page’ as the users scroll down for ‘more’ search results.

•  The design of the ‘old header’ was a box and the new header is round.

The testing for this rounded and sticky ‘new header’ design began as early as the month of August. However, it is still not available on the various ‘desktop devices’ which indicates that Google is performing a large test. Whenever Google rolls out new features, it is received with a lot of complaints.

This encourages Google to carry out further research for pleasing its billions of users across the globe. Earlier Google had rolled out the rounded UI for the mobile searches in the month of November in 2017. This latest ‘new header’ update somehow closes the gap between the desktop and the mobile UX.

The possible reason for this new update of Google could be to make the giant Google search engine more user-friendly. Google is always experimenting to make the search experience more enriching and rewarding for the users. This was confirmed by a Google spokesperson. With improved features, it would attract more and more users and continue to remain the No. 1 search engine.
